GreenHawks fall to Halifax in first ever

Washington, D.C….Playing in the most powerful city in the world still wasn’t enough to propel the GreenHawks to a victory Friday night.

Desmond Ferguson scored a season-high 28 points, including 6-of-10 from long range, Eric Crookshank filled up the stat sheet with 22 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists and Eric Gilchrese finished with 22 points for Halifax who picked up their second win in a row by defeating the Maryland GreenHawks 132-118 in Washington, D.C.

After putting up 43 points in the first quarter, the Rainmen extended their lead to 51-33 on a Gregory Plummer (18 points) shot in the paint with at the 8:27 mark in the second quarter.

The GreenHawks would go on a 14-6 run cutting the lead to 58-47 with 3:49 to go in the half, but Halifax would finish the half with a 68-53 advantage.

It was all Halifax in the third quarter, extending their lead to as many as 29 points, heading into the final period up 103-79.

The GreenHawks outscored the Rainmen 39-29 and made a run in the fourth quarter connecting on seven three-pointers, but closest the GreenHawks would get was 14 points.

The GreenHawks were led by Terrance Mouton’s 27 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Harvey Thomas added 20 points and Sean McKeon finished with a season-high 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds and eight blocked shots.

Both teams return to action Saturday as the GreenHawks travel to Vermont to face the Frost Heaves at 2PM while the Rainmen return to Halifax to host the Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry.
