Cavs Trample Buffalo

LAWTON, Okla. – The Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry triumphed over their first game against the Buffalo Stampede with a final score of 139-80.
The first quarter started with DeAnthony Bowden scoring the first points of the game. Buffalo was unable to penetrate the Cavs defense until 7:06 left in the quarter when Marcus Hall was finally able to put a point on the board. Hall was fouled by Elvin Mims and was able to make one of his foul shots.
Brandon Dean struggled in the first quarter with his three point shots making 0-3 attempts. Dean scored 4 points at the end of the quarter. Tim Ellis made himself known by scoring 14 points and 4 rebounds. Bowden scored 9 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 block and 3 steals in 12 minutes of play. The Cavs led in assists with 12-5 and in steals with 7-2. The quarter ended with the Cavs in the lead 29-18.
The problems for Buffalo continued in the second quarter. They had trouble with making their shots before the shot clock ran out. Rashad Woods and Wayne Marshall for the Cavs led in points with 9 each. Buffalo led in turnovers once again with 8 to the Cavs 3. The Cavs continued to dominate in assists increasing their lead 10-2. Shaun Fountain shined in the quarter by making 50% of his three point shots, 1 rebound, 8 points, 3 assists and 1 steal in 12 minutes of play. The teams entered halftime with a final score of 66-40.
The third quarter was much of the same as the second. Buffalo could not seem to prevent their turnovers and totaled 23-10 at the end of the quarter. The Cavs maintained their lead in assists with a total of 13-2 just in the third. The Cavs also stole the ball from Buffalo 6 times. Bowden, Ellis, and Daniels tied for total points in the third with 8 each.\\The quarter ended with the Cavs still ahead 103-60.
Buffalo tried to pick it up in the fourth quarter but were unsuccessful. Woods seemed much more in tune to his fellow players and scored the most points in the fourth with 16 for the Cavs.
The Cavs ended the game with 42 assists to Buffalo’s 13 and 18-10 in steals. Buffalo struggled with turnovers throughout the game and ended with 28-16. Woods led the Cavs in points for the game with 25, 7 rebounds and 2 steals in 24 minutes of play. Ellis followed close behind with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Bowden ended with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 block and 5 steals.
