RazorSharks Capture 100th Win, Down Undefeated Capitanes 113-101

In front of 8,243 fans, the second largest crowd in Rochester RazorSharks history, the ‘Sharks did not disappoint as Melvin Council scored 28 points to lead Rochester in their 113-101 victory over the Puerto Rico Capitanes.

It was a physical first half as only two points were scored in the first two minutes and both teams combined for five technical fouls. PBL player of the week, David Cortes scored 10 points to give the Capitanes a 27-17 first quarter lead. The RazorSharks were down by 13 in the second quarter before cutting the deficit to 56-51 to end the half. Jerice Crouch scored 11 first half points to lead Rochester. Elias Ayuso added 13 for Puerto Rico.

The RazorSharks took the lead in the third quarter as Melvin Council put up 10 points. Jerice Crouch, Donielle Davis and Council each hit key three pointers to boost Rochester to an 85-78 lead after three quarters. Rochester maintained their lead in the fourth quarter as Council scored 11 points, giving the RazorSharks their 100th franchise victory.

The ‘Sharks Keith Friel missed his first game since 2006, a streak of 56 games. The Capitanes played without their leading scorer and rebounder, Angelo Reyes. The victory also marked Coach Rod Baker’s 100th win as Rochester’s head coach.

Marlin Johnson recorded a double-double for the RazorSharks (6-3) scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to go along with six steals. Jerice Crouch finished with 20 points and Glen Dandridge added 14. The Capitanes Jeffrion Aubry scored 22 points and pulled down 19 rebounds to earn a double-double. David Cortes led Puerto Rico (9-1) with 23 points, while Elias Ayuso finished with 19.
