New Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Premier Basketball League Team Looks to Community for Name, Mascot, and Logo; Contest Launching July 28th, 2011

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA – 7/27/2011 – A contest for a team nickname, mascot, and logo begins today for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s new professional basketball team. Team Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, one of the Premier Basketball League’s newest additions to its upcoming 2012 season. Team Scranton Wilkes-Barre is asking all interested community members and fans to participate in the contest.

Those interested in participating in the competition should visit Team Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s website at www.TeamScrantonPBL.com and click the link to fill out the online form. From there contestants have the option to submit ideas for a team nickname, team mascot, and team logo. The contest ends August 15th and all submissions will be judged by the Team Scranton/Wilkes-Barres leadership group. A contest winner will be announced by August 20th and awarded four season ticket packages along with VIP benefits for Team Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s 2012 season.

“One of the reasons we joined the Premier Basketball League was the focus on community service and involvement. We found holding a team naming and logo contest to be one of the best ways to engage our new fan base before the season even begins,” commented Dr. Stanley Blondek & Mr. Joe Runco of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barres ownership group.

The concept of community service is at the core of the PBL. As a new team in the league, Team Scranton/Wilkes-Barre wants to develop a program that is heavily involved with the community and fans. The Team Scranton/Wilkes-Barre owners feel like this is a great opportunity to get the community involved, build a lasting relationship with the fans, and get them excited about the 2012 season.

“We love seeing our teams and organizations engaging the community. We are excited about the Scranton market and it is great to see the team’s leadership opening up such a tremendous opportunity to the community,” said PBL President and CEO Brij Desai.

Contestants are encouraged to submit logo concept designs in addition to team nickname and mascot ideas. In addition to the season ticket prize pack, the contest winner will be recognized by both local media and the team leadership during the 2012 inaugural game.
